Shrimp Farming

Shrimp farming is a relevant activity of great economic significance, and because of this, one of the most important factors to consider in the commercial shrimp farms is the quality of the water in the tanks, where it is imperative to monitor the parameters that have an effect upon the growth of the animals, such as ammonia, dissolved oxygen, salinity and others.

The Yucca schidigera extract in powder form as an ingredient in shrimp feed helps to control and to reduce ammonia levels and other compounds and according to available information, this translates into greater weight gain due to a better feed conversion as well as a reduction in the mortality rate and as a consequence this results in higher farm productivity.

The use of liquid extract acts by bonding the ammonia molecules and transforming them into other nitrogenated non-toxic compounds for the shrimp and that are utilized by the phytoplankton and zooplankton as a source for nitrogen, besides improving the quality of the water of the tanks.
